No time for Naps. Gotta explore!

Day four was quiet the adventure. We had a quick orientation today at our school which consisted of us talking about Italians vs. Americans and safety concerns. Americans seem so calm and pataient, Italians are crazy and do whatever they want. For instance, Americans pull into spots and park in the lines, Italians park however they want and what is more convenient for them. Americans wait in line, Italians budge and nudge others to get to their spot in a play. We saw this video that described the differences, we were laughing so much! Then we had about 3 hours to get lunch/do whatever before our first class. So a few of us decided to get lost in Rome and wonder around the streets. We saw the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi fountain and walked into so many cute boutique stores. I am so excited to go shopping! We also went to the area where the most expensive items are sold such as Louis Vuitton and the Ferrari Store. I also got my first cappuccino. It was great! I am probably going to get one every day, but some people bought an espresso machine, so I might do that instead. Then we went back for our first class at Leonardo Di Vinci, our school. The class is called Society and Culture which is a class about political, social, and cultural trends that shape contemporary Italy. I am not a history fan, but I think I may like learning it in Rome. We meet twice a week for 1.5 hours. I hope I enjoy this class! The Trevi Fountain

After class, we decided to casually walk back to our apartment area. It is about a 10 minute tram ride, then a ten minute walk, so it took us about 45 minutes to get home. We literally walked like 5 hours today, my legs are going to be so strong by the time I get home. Some girls went to a little convenient store and bought apartment things then the grocery store. I stocked up on some food for the week, but I plan to go back and buy fresh produce at least every other day. It is a 5 minute walk from our apartment which is glorious! Instead of cooking dinner like a lot of the rooms, I went out to dinner with one apartment to a cute little pizzeria. It had everything on the menu. The waiters spoke English which was really helpful. We sat and ate/drank wine for about 2.5 hours. It was really fun to get to know different girls on my program and finally get to talk to them individually. No one really went out tonight because tomorrow we have a long day of class starting with Layers of Rome, then our first Italian class, then meeting with one of our coordinators. We are for sure going out tomorrow night! I hope tomorrow is just as adventurous and interesting as today!

Ciao
