When in Rome. Ride a Segway.

This weekend I had two more visitors: Jamie and Torey from Paris! It was a fun filled weekend with lots of walking around and site seeing. I unfortunantly had a field trip to a Cheese Farm on Friday, so they explore on their own. They saw the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and the Sistine Chapel (something I still have not done, but will hopefully soon!).

After I got back from the field trip, we all got ready to go to Freni e Frizioni for Apperitivo. Danny and I had been their once before, but we thought we would take our friends. We spent an hour drinking a Sea Breeze and eating lots of cous cous, vegetables, apples, bread, and rice. After our meal, we went and got Gelato! It was Torey and Jamie's first Gelato, and they loved it! We had to rush back after eating the gelato to get ready for the night. We went clubbing at Gilda, the first club/bar we ever went to in Rome! We sang and danced the night away!

We spent the day on Saturday walking around, seeing the famous monuments, and hung out at the Villa Borghese Gardens. On our way to the Trevi Fountain, we stopped at got sandwiches at my new favorite lunch place: We stopped at Giolitti as well so they could get another Gelato! We made a wish at the Trevi Fountain, walked on Villa del Corso, saw the Spanish steps, and laid out in the Borghese Gardens. I have always wanted to ride a Segway, so today a dream came true. We rode around the gardens for a half hour on Segways. It was so much fun! I felt like I was going to fall over, but the machine is robot and moves with your body, so you never fall off. It was a gorgeous day outside, 75 and sunny, the perfect weather to Segway. I am so glad I got to share that experience with two of my best friends in Rome!

After a long day of walking, we finished it off with a great Italian dinner at Buchetto. We each had brushetta with tomatoes, a pasta (I clearly got Penne Arribiata) and then Chicken with peppers. It was amazing being with my friends this weekend. I really missed them! Torey said that Rome has been one of her favorite trips since being abroad, so I think I showed them a good time! Although they leave tomorrow, I will see them in about 6 weeks! I cannot believe my program is coming to an end so soon!! AHHH!!! Gotta live it up and do as much as I can in the next few weeks!

My 21st birthday is on Tuesday. I cannot wait! Its going to be amazing!!!! I wish I could be with my brother and parents however on my birthday, but I know we will celebrate when I return. Happy 21st to the best twin ever!!!

Ciao a tutti,
Marisa
